Chains 03:58
In an empty room behind Our father who art away Them living by the knife And staining inner light Or burning for some sleep  In the branch of a hemlock tree Where to stand up is to be free For the dumb to speak For the blind to see And repeating all the while Our father who art away More then rivers to cross More than stalks to climb up And more than talk can say We’re forging our own chains So nobody can escape Hellfire is gathering Chains today Chains you to me What I see
2.
Smoke is pouring up black and blue Rising sign of this kinda time Sword and shield to plow behind Mule down by the riverside It’s happening today Fools are gone they run away Fools are gone away The pass is narrow the air is thin If you fall down baby you’re gonna die And every murder you thought in your head Flies out from your eyes Just like rumors when they spread Drag trouble in for the outside The flame is raging to be fed Rising signs It’s happening today Fools are gone they run away Fools are gone away Siren sound    Don’t study how Come and drown me out It goes round and round Axes rising like a river Don’t study how Coming siren sound The last good deal is out The seeds are in the ground The fools are gonna be forgiven Come a death machine Don’t study how Come to save your life It goes round and round Axes rising like a river The bridge is down Come a siren sound The seeds are in the ground Fools are gonna be forgiven

Stone Love 04:51
My head is in the past The one I’ve been is the place I am A photograph  The world just turned her head Smiled and turned again The place I am  is getting dark again It’ll never be the same It’s never been this late today Look out from a mountain  See the world on fire Love has been forsaken  But it’s  really not a crime Don’t let it die Stone love Don’t let it die Please help I’ll take any kind Find myself remembering  When you and me would do anything  To get a laugh We’ll now I’m laughing behind the back Of a photograph  Sad old photograph  The room is getting tired again  That’s the oldest one I’ve been You can call me back When you’re tired of where your at More of England’s heartless rain Could never lift the stain of love. The tree leaves all point fingers And anyone below is to blame Production days are numbered Just one thing remains here Don’t let it die dear Stone love Don’t it it die Please help I’ll take any kind Come on baby Any kind
4.
Came today  The threshold’s edge Where the truth is a lie Hollow faces Wasteland lords And the siren’s sighs Begging please  Puppet man Set down your line Tomorrows gone The place hopes all die Here comes tonight  Dried brown and red I might have hit my head Because I lost some time Came today  To the land of the blind Rest your head Go to sleep No one is gonna believe You shut your eyes And it is your dream The river is so deep The marked one’s name Has branded me Start to shout It don’t sound the same The moon has gone to hide and weep Can anyone hear me The night got late  And then it turned brown and red And the sirens sigh Hollow faces Demands are set And the truth is a lie Fools will pray For better timing And the see the sun shine again Fools die anyway  In the land of the blind The driving rain The wet hot smoke Has got me here below Rest your head Go to sleep No one is gonna believe And the house we shared Was that a dream? On the ridge Hear the screaming  The night is white The woods on fire Somebody help me please

Cornerstone 03:25
Boll weevil swarm arrives so high Makes today look like tonight Got a warm place for the winter time Drinking flesh of fortunate sons With the royal bloodline wine It’s nice Now’s the time if you’re gonna switch sides Make today look like tonight In the last good time to need a good friend A long time wrong is to be a long way gone It could be a cornerstone this time Life was just right before it was done The hour’s late but it ain’t gone It could be a cornerstone

Dawning 02:05
Boll weevil swarm arrives so high Makes today look like tonight Got a warm place for the winter time Drinking flesh of fortunate sons With the royal bloodline wine It’s nice Now’s the time if you’re gonna switch sides Make today look like tonight In the last good time to need a good friend A long time wrong is to be a long way gone It could be a cornerstone this time Life was just right before it was done The hour’s late but it ain’t gone It could be a cornerstone  Dawning Time hangs down  A rusty wire Rearranged me Very likely to take An awful time To relate babe But the morning will rise up free And there’ll be a new light to see Just like water over me And the dawning ever after is free I wish to be gone Far away Enough to find out Some kind of time That would be The very last kind Out of your mouth And the morning will rise up free And there’ll be a new light to see Like the water over me The dawning is free Come on and be free

Outsider 04:45
Time walks straight  And it sways Piling into latter days I never had to wait To put some blame on a passing face Hate is a one way street That a child is on the wrong way But the place I’m trying to reach is far away And the cost is getting high You got to fly  I am the outsider In the age of our self made  Lying heads of fallen state No one mentioning the change of season  Or the killing floor of latter days All praise to bold face thieves Profits gained and loss of lives And the place we’re trying to reach is getting farther And the time it takes to leave is longer But we’re getting stronger I am the outsider You can never find me No you never can I am the outsider

Never Ending 09:12
A shadow  Troubled thinking Ten times as long  As the one your on Right before the dawn With no bell ringing Seemed so  Never ending But it’s time to leave Nothing is to keep And the warm look  Leaves the eye All the same Don’t turn away  It takes no time  for the smile to fade I brought you A jungle print bonnet  It’s Sunday now all the time In a houseboat  Out on a limb when It seems so  Never ending  But it’s time to leave Nothing is to keep And the warm look leaves the eye To make that face If only one of us stayed It’s much to late  For a public place It’s time to leave Nothing is to keep The warm look leaves the eye All the same don’t turn away It takes no time for a smile to fade All the same  I don’t want to keep you for too long Just one more thing to say to you that’s all No one here can finish this song We only sing along

about

The Ar-Kaics are back with See the World on Fire, their first new album in six years. It’s also the first release from this newly-minted partnership between Feel It Records and the bands’ own imprint, Dig! Records; with Bachelor Records delivering a European edition. Expect eight new tunes of dark, moody, rollicking garage psych not altogether dissimilar from their previous output (across two LPs and a mess of singles). What you get here is the next chapter. All written and recorded in singer-guitarist Johnny’s bedroom / garage (pictured on the album cover), it’s a concept album based on the concept of making an album—on their own, from the brink.
But don’t just take our word for it…

“The Ar-Kaics out of Virginia are pretty groovy. They got THAT sound, man.”
- Marc Maron

“What could possibly have possessed these seasoned vets peppered throughout the Commonwealth (a region philosophically averse to light pollution) to paint it all even blacker? Where have all the good times gone, and how? When that '60s clang-n-fuzz gets too much humidity on it, that swamp-heavy "let's go get stoned" midnight choir to the black vacuum of electric hum at the hour only the birds and paw-paws are listening and the true believers among us can unbottle some secrets to the stars above... you get this album. So many third-wave garage juggernauts always kept the shtick secured in their pocket protectors. Even Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs’ emotional investment translated directly to their market parameters. No risks, no rewards, no 4th walls and no 5th columns. Great shit, but who's feeling? This album calls the bluff on the whole genre—a Hail Mary by dudes who've used and been used by the entanglement. There was always a suspension of disbelief to the cathartic hokiness, and this is the ultimate trump card. They still believe in music, and you can too. In the intersections of love and trust and money and hope, we're all crosstown traffic, and if there aren't marks on your back, pat it. You'll hear echoes of Lou and Neil and Keith, but there's no indication what part of the woods they're coming from. It's music from where they went on occasion, mapless. Music from the other side. A land free of time.”
- Brandon Gaffney

“Love over gold.”
